Then in 1991 eight-time Olympic Coach, Dr. Ron O'Brien became the Director of Diving and the Head Coach. During Ron's tenure, the Fort Lauderdale diving team won 21 National Championships.
After Dr. O'Brien retired and became the National Technical Director for USA Diving, Tim O'Brien, Ron's son, became the Head Coach. In 2007, Tim left the sport of diving and 1980 Olympic Team member and President of USA Diving; Dave Burgering became the Director of Diving and Head Coach of the program. Dave Started in January of 2007.
