Summer Day Camp
What a great way to spend the summer, in a cool pool, swimming, and diving. The Summer Aquatic Fun Day Camp is for kids 5 - 15 held at the Ft. Lauderdale Aquatic Complex right across the street from the Atlantic Ocean. Children must be comfortable in deep water; the diving pool is 18 feet deep.

ABOUT THE CAMP AND PROGRAM
The Aquatic Fun Day Camp offers children from ages 5 to 13 a safe and fun environment to enjoy their summer in a setting that is rich in history at the Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Complex. Camp hours are from 9 to 4, Monday-Friday for 8 one week sessions beginning June 14, 2010 and ending the week of August 9th, (NO camp the week of June 28 – July 2). For those who need longer camp hours, Before and After Care is available for an additional fee – from 8 am to 9 am, 4 to 5:30pm or both. The camp experience provides campers with a variety of activities, most are which are aquatic related such as swimming, playing in the pool, diving instruction, springboard and Olympic platform jumping, trampoline, and beach fun. Glass bottom boat and snorkeling trips along with other field trips are offered when available. Non-competitive sports and outside games are also included. Campers must be comfortable in water depths up to 18 deep. An air conditioned setting is provided for lunch and indoor activities, arts and crafts and more. Your child will be able to watch world class divers training for the Olympics when they are in town!
ABOUT THE OWNER AND DIRECTOR
The Aquatic Fun Day Camp is owned and operated by Coach Dave Burgering. Dave is the Director and Head Coach for the Ft. Lauderdale Diving Team & coached at the 2008 Olympic Games. Dave is a graduate of Michigan State University with a degree in Education. Dave has been involved in the sport of diving for 43 years and his 4th year running this camp at Ft. Lauderdale Aquatic Complex. He was on the 1980 Olympic Diving Team. Dave is also serving on the Board of Directors of United States Diving.
LOCATION AND PHONE NUMBERS
The Aquatic Fun Day Camp is located at the world famous Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Complex. It is ¼ mile south of Las Olas and approximately 1 mile north of the 17th Street causeway bridge. COUNSELORS AND TRAINING
Counselors are selected from applicants through a comprehensive hiring process including but not limited to an interview with the director, reference and background screening and required certifications. ALL counselors are required to be safety certified through USA Diving for diving and trampoline and to have current CPR and First Aid certifications. An orientation and training session is held to review safety rules and regulations, emergency action plans, programming, staff policies and accreditation standards. The counselors are evaluated on a periodic basis. Proper Camper ratios are maintained to provide Campers with a fun but safe summer.
WHAT TO BRING
All campers should wear shorts and a t-shirt (one complimentary camp t-shirt will be provided per camper and more can be purchased), sturdy tennis shoes and socks, fresh swim suit and towel daily, hat and sunscreen. Send a complete change of clothing in their camp bags in the event it is needed. Label all things from home including lunch container, clothes, towels, and sunscreen, using a permanent marker.
LUNCH, SNACKS AND DRINKS
Campers must provide their own lunches in a labeled, insulated container with a cold pack. Water, energy drinks and snacks will be provided throughout the day.
ACCIDENTS, INJURIES, ILLNESSES
You or your contact person will be notified immediately by telephone in the unlikely event of any these occurrences. All staff is trained in water and trampoline safety, First Aid and CPR. In the event of serious injury or illness, local paramedics will take your child to the nearest hospital while providing immediate attention on site and in transit. You will be notified simultaneously by telephone so you can meet at the hospital. A camp member will accompany your child and will remain at the hospital until you or your designee arrives.
MEDICATIONS
If your child requires medication while in day camp, these rules must be followed: a signed consent for the medication to be administered, all medications must be in the original pharmacy container clearly labeled with the child’s name, pharmacy name and number, prescription number, prescribing physician, date of order, expiration date, name of medication, dosage and frequency of medication. The Camp does not administer any over the counter medications unless accompanied by a physician note. All medications are to be brought to the camp on a daily basis as they are not stored overnight at the facility. This information must be included in the signed camp health history form.

Schedule is subject to change. You will be notified in advance of special field trips such as the Snorkeling & Glass Bottom Boat Ride.
DROP OFF AND PICK UP
At the East end of the Facility off of Seabreeze Blvd., there is a circular driveway underneath the structure. All drop-offs and pick-ups will take place in this area except aftercare pick-ups. Please pull into the circular driveway just south of the main parking lot entrance and you will be greeted by a camp staff member to check your child in or out of camp. Aftercare must park and proceed into the diving pool area for pick-up and sign-out. Before Care campers are to be dropped off at 8:00 am but no later than 8:15 am. Please be prepared to show a photo ID to the camp staff.

FEES
The fees for the Aquatic Fun Day Camp are:
Weekly sessions beginning June 14 and ending the week of August 9th : (There will be NO camp the week of June 28 – July 2)
$50 non-refundable registration fee per child
$25 non-refundable registration fee for each additional child from the same household
$200 per weekly session - $180 per weekly session after your 4th week.
$180 per weekly session for each additional child from the same household
Before and After Care:
$25 per week per child for before care (8 – 9)
$35 per week per child for after care (4 – 5:30)
$50 per week per child for both before and after care
- Campers are required to become Limited Members of USA Diving to participate in the Aquatic Fun Day Camp. Cost is $12 plus processing fee of $2.95. Go to www.usadiving.org. Select Membership, Join USA Diving/Limited Athletic Membership Type/Ft. Lauderdale Diving team/FLA Gold Coast Association. Follow the simple application and payment directions and print the membership card. You must print out a copy of your registration card prior to camp and bring it with you the first day of your camp.
- Payments for camp must be paid 1 week prior to the start of your camp week. If payment in not made at that time, we cannot guarantee a spot in camp. This also includes anyone that wants to add weeks to his or her camp experience. This is to insure we have proper number of staff each week.
In order to receive a full refund (exclusive of the non-refundable registration fee) notice must be given 1 week prior to your start date of camp. After this time, a 50% refund on the weekly fees will be refunded.
HOW DO I RESERVE A SPOT FOR MY CHILD?

Option #2: Request a Camp application via e-mail at info@ftldiveteam.com with your name, email address, phone number and address. Submit a completed application with camp dates selected with the non-refundable registration fee along with the weekly fee. We cannot guarantee your child’s space in camp until the weekly fee is paid in full. Sign up early to be sure your child has a spot!
