Ft. Lauderdale Diving Team

We are currently closed. Not only has the coronavirus closed us, we are under construction awaiting for a state of the art swimming and diving facility in the city of Fort Lauderdale here at the International Swimming Hall of Fame.

We are currently (when we reopen from stay at home) training at Nova Southeastern University, Coral Springs and University of Miami while we are under construction. We would like to thank Sally, Matt, Michelle, Randy and Dario for allowing us to use their facilities.

The Fort Lauderdale Diving Team is the premiere springboard and platform diving team in Florida. FLDT has placed higher than any team in Florida the past 4 years (2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019) at the USA Diving Junior National Championships. We also have had at least one diver win the gold in the past 5 Junior National Championships. FLDT offers group lessons, private lessons, 3 different levels of our competitive team and invites visiting divers with USA Diving memberships to come train with us.

27-meter dive tower and Observation Deck

The City of Fort Lauderdale Commissioners voted to fully fund the 27-meter dive tower and an Observation Deck on July 7th. It will be the first and only high diving tower in the USA and is expected to attract elite divers from around the world. It will be the second such tower with the first one erected in China. The high diving tower in Fort Lauderdale will be the only one of its kind with multiple platforms and additional features.

The platform will be 1,3,5,7 1/2,10,15,20,24 and 27 meters. Along with 3 meter and 1 meter springboards. With all this equipment, the Fort Lauderdale Diving Team can accommodate divers at every level. High school, college, Junior National, senior national, Olympic, and high diving. No other program in the USA can claim that at this time.

Student Testimonials

"I have personally known Dave Burgering for the last fifteen years and can't say enough good things about him as a world class diving coach, motivator, and mentor. Dave has played many roles in my life through the years--the obvious one is that of a great coach and mentor....but Dave is much more then that to me he is also a second father and one of the very first people to this day who I pick up the phone to call and share adversities and triumphs." BD

"My daughter has been diving with Dave Burgering since age 9. She is now a freshman athlete at the University of Alabama. Dave Burgering taught her the skills she needed to be successful on the college level. I have found him to have a vast knowledge of the sport as well as compassion for all of his athletes. He has brought much success to the Fort Lauderdale dive team as a sincere, dedicated coach who is always willing to go the extra mile for his athletes."
